We had the honor of being asked to be on the committee for La Cocina’s Inaugural Gala. For those of you who aren’t familiar with La Cocina,  meaning “The Kitchen” in Spanish…they are San Francisco’s first incubator kitchen.

“The mission of La Cocina is to cultivate low income food entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their businesses by providing affordable commercial kitchen space, industry-specific technical assistance and access to market opportunities. We focus primarily on women from communities of color and immigrant communities. Our vision is that entrepreneurs gain financial security by doing what they love to do, creating an innovative, vibrant and inclusive economic landscape.” – La Cocina

The Bently Reserve was transformed into a warm and inviting space where honorary hosts, invited guests, and La Cocina program participants came together to celebrate the significant role women – and mothers – play within our food culture.

Lidia Sadoun of La Fleuriste was the master mind behind the “kitchen” inspired florals. The centerpieces were all in mixed kitchen vessels such as colanders, glass measuring bowls, and tea glasses with metal cuffs.  Cocktail hour felt alive and warm with beautiful patterned and textured linens from La Tavola and speciality mixed cocktails from Rye on the Road. However, dinner was the main attraction with a once in a lifetime meal for 250 guests by acclaimed New York chef and author of “Blood, Bones, and Butter” Gabrielle Hamilton.

Alison has being working pro bono with this amazing organization for a while now so we were delighted when we were asked to join the committee and design their first Gala.

Needless to say, it was truly an amazing night! Thank you La Cocina for including us and we look forward to many, many more together!

A very special thank you to Josh Gruetzmacher for the capturing the event beautifully on film!
